SAP S/4HANA Controlling Content Expert - IT Start: September / October 2026End: April 2027 + possibility of extensionWorkload: 80-100%Location: Remote within the EU, with some travel to Berlin, Stockholm and AmsterdamLanguage: EnglishContract: Freelance / Contract / B2B Role Overview We are looking for an experienced SAP S/4HANA Controlling Content Expert to join a major international S/4HANA Finance transformation programme. This is a senior, client-facing role focused on defining and driving end-to-end Controlling solutions within SAP S/4HANA, while ensuring alignment with global Finance templates and business requirements. You will act as a subject matter expert across SAP FI-CO, helping shape future-state solutions using standard S/4HANA capabilities and providing direction to implementation teams and key business stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Design and drive end-to-end SAP S/4HANA Controlling solutions Translate business requirements into scalable and future-proof SAP solutions Advise clients on the business value and change impact of S/4HANA Finance transformation Lead Controlling solution design based on global templates and local business requirements Provide functional direction to implementation teams and ensure alignment with business stakeholders Support Fit-to-Template and related design workshops Challenge non-standard requirements and promote adoption of standard S/4HANA functionality Work closely with Finance Business Leads, IT Leads, Business Consultants and business stakeholders Ensure effective integration between Controlling and surrounding SAP processes Core SAP Controlling Expertise Strong experience is required across several of the following areas: Margin Analysis Overhead Accounting Event-Based Revenue Recognition Profit Center & Cost Center Accounting Project Controlling Universal Allocation Experience across related areas is also valuable, including: SAP Portfolio & Project Management (PPM) SAP Project System (PS) SAP Service Management Enterprise Asset Management Master Data Management Required Experience Strong SAP consulting background with at least 3 full-cycle SAP S/4HANA implementations Deep SAP Controlling / FI-CO expertise Proven ability to architect and drive end-to-end S/4HANA Controlling solutions Strong understanding of integration with related SAP modules and business processes Experience working within SAP Activate project environments Strong analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills Comfortable working independently and driving topics in an ambiguous environment Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to operate effectively in a client-facing role English language skills are mandatory Nice to Have SAP S/4HANA Finance certification Dutch language skills German language skills Previous experience in large-scale international S/4HANA transformation programmes Experience with harmonisation and global template rollouts
